Craig DuVarney strives to bring a combination of success and determination to his career as a Certified Financial Planner practitioner. While a student in junior high school he recognized two things: that he wanted to become a financial planner, and that he would need to find a way to pay for his education. The solution was Tri-State Sportscards, a baseball card business Craig and his father founded to help fund his college education. Demonstrating an early acumen for business, Craig succeeded in funding 60% of his education through this enterprise.
Since beginning his career as a Financial Planner, Craig has quickly established himself as a rising star. He was selected 1999 Rookie of the Year by the Worcester Association of Life Underwriters for outstanding achievement within the financial services industry. Craig is also a five-time qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), and a two-time member of the prestigious MDRT "Court of the Table", based upon his outstanding product knowledge and client service. MDRT is an association of life insurance and financial services advisors. Craig is one of only six people in New England to acquire the ChFEBC (Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant) designation. In 2005, the Boston Society of Financial Service Professionals voted Craig the winner of "Boston's Best Financial Plan".* In October 2009 Craig was informed that he had been named a "2010 FIVE STAR Wealth Manager - Best in Client Satisfaction" by Boston magazine.* The award will be published in the February 2010 edition of the magazine.
Craig also participates in a variety of speaking engagements and interviews. For the past five years Craig has been a guest professor in the Boston University CFP Program, educating future financial planners. Craig has also spoken to such groups as the Boston Office of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Professional Airways Systems Specialists of New England (PASS), Framingham State College, Brandeis University, and the Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital. In 2009 the Financial Planning Association asked Craig to speak at their 2009 Business Solutions Conference in Chicago, IL in a session about how he has used technology solutions to build his office infrastructure. Craig is also a contributor to such publications as the Wall Street Journal, SmartMoney Magazine, Boston Globe, Dow Jones Newswire, MSN Money, Yahoo! Finance, Investment News, On Wall Street, Registered Rep magazine, Technology Tools for Today (T3) Newsletter, and Bank Investment Consultant magazine.
Most revealing about the professionalism, sense of dedication and quality of service he provides, is the fact that Craig’s business has been growing quickly and steadily through the many referrals he has received from satisfied clients who recommend him to friends, family members, and fellow business associates. Craig attributes his success in business to his strong work ethic, and to the values instilled in him by his parents.
Craig resides in Ayer, MA and enjoys hiking, photography, and spending time with his wife Joanne and two children Sam and Jill.
